Location: Salmon Arm, BC (Interior BC field work)

Recon Forestry is seeking a motivated and experienced Forest Technician to join our growing team. We are a Salmon Arm, based forestry consulting company providing development planning, and field services throughout the BC Interior and Southern BC.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working independently in the field, takes pride in producing accurate work, and understands the importance of quality layout and data collection in supporting sustainable forest management.
Key Responsibilities
- Field layout for roads, cutblocks, and associated development
- Boundary, road and feature reconnaissance
- Assist with forest development planning and implementation
- Maintain accurate field notes and digital records
- Work safely and efficiently in remote environments
- Collaborate with office staff to ensure deliverables meet client standards
- GPS traversing and data collection using survey-grade equipment
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years field experience in forestry operations or consulting
- Strong understanding of forest development layout practices
- Experience with GPS and surveying equipment
- Ability to work independently in rugged terrain and varying weather conditions
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Assets (Preferred but Not Required)
- Timber cruising experience
- Familiarity with BC Interior appraisal and development standards
- ATV/UTV/Sled and backcountry field experience
- Safety certifications (First Aid, Transportation Endorsement, etc.)
